adobe uninstaller – How to force uninstall Adobe you cannot uninstall
At one point or another, this happens to every computer user in the world: You install Adobe, find out that you don’t like it, or need it, or that its plain useless for the task you wanted to use it for and you want to uninstall Adobe. So you open up the Windows Add/Remove tool, click the button to uninstall Adobe… and find out that you cannot uninstall the program. In this article I will try to explain how to force uninstall Adobe, that you cannot uninstall using the Windows Add/Remove tool. Before that, however, I will try to explain what happens during installation.
What you need to know to uninstall a program manually
There are several things that happen during the installation of a program.
First, of course, is the copying of files to the specified program folder (which is usually somewhere inside the Program Files folder). Also some files such as shared libraries (.dll files) can be copied into a folder inside Program Files called Common Files and some files such as drivers or shared libraries (again) are copied into the ‘WINDOWSSystem32′ and ‘WINDOWSSystem32drivers’ folders.
After that the installer makes some changes inside the windows registry. The windows registry is a unified place where all the settings for programs and for windows itself are stored. The installer can make changes inside the registry for several reasons. For example if a shared library needs to be registered. Or if certain types of files need to be associated with the program being installed, so that the user could open them (e.g. if you install Microsoft Word, then you will be able to open Microsoft Word documents). After this is done, a key is added to the windows registry in a place where the Windows Add/Remove tool looks for installed programs. During the installation all these operations are logged in a special file (e.g. setup.log), and the installation program usually puts that file inside the application’s folder along with the uninstaller. When a user tries to remove Adobe through the Add/Remove tool, windows looks for the registered uninstaller inside the registry, and executes it. The uninstaller goes through the log file and undoes all the changes done during installation. That is, it deletes all the files that have been copied, all the registry keys the installer created etc.
However, if there is no log file, or if there is no record of the changes made to the registry the uninstaller might fail to uninstall Adobe, and it will stay there untill it is removed by other means.
So if Adobe won’t uninstall, how do you perform a force uninstall?
Well, if you know how to work with the windows registry, you probably can perform a manual force uninstall.
Before I go into detail about how to do this manually, I’d like to say that this is pretty advanced stuff, and if you’re not a power user, then perhaps you should consider using specialized software such as the The Best Uninstall Tool which allows you to do this in just a few clicks.
If you are a power user, then let’s continue. First, let’s see how to remove the program from the list of installed programs. To do that you need to open the registry browser:
- Click Start and choose Run in the menu (If you’re using Windows Vista then press Win+R on your keyboard).
- Type regedit and hit Enter.
- On the left side is the registry settings tree, use it to go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall
- Inside that key you’ll find a lot of keys that belong to different programs. Some are named after the program’s name, others as a mix of numbers and letters that makes no sense. Look through each of them until you find one that has the key DisplayName (on the right) with your program’s name in it.
- Notice the key UninstallString – this key points to the uninstall program, and the log file usually resides in the same folder as that program.
- If you delete the key in which you’ve found the DisplayName key with the value equal to your program’s name, then your program won’t appear on the Add/Remove programs list.
Some programs create new entries in the registry to store their configuration options, these entries can usually be found in the HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware or in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE – look for the program name or the name of the company that made the software. Don’t delete Microsoft though – that contains Windows settings as well.
Next we have to find all the files that have been copied. Open the folder in which the uninstall program should be, and look for files which are named uninstal.log or setup.log or something similar. The list of files that have been installed is inside this file, you can open it in your notepad and find all of the files that have been copied onto your system. Delete the files and you’ll get rid of the program almost fully.
Again, I’d like to stress that if you’re new to the windows registry and all of this stuff, and if you don’t feel like experimenting with your computer, then, again, please consider using either the Best Uninstall Tool or similar software to force uninstall Adobe, I do not want to be responsible for breaking your computer.

Apple Open Collaboration Environment
History
Development of AOCE started in 1989, largely the “pet project” of Gursharan Sidhu, engineering lead at Apple for LaserWriter, AppleShare and related networking products[citation needed].
Problems to solve
The project started by taking a “20,000 foot overview” of existing mail systems, and trying to find common concepts and problems. Their key conclusion was that e-mail systems were designed for the wrong purpose — to deliver e-mail to people, when they should instead store and forward things to places. Compare this with the real-world postal service, which delivers not only mail, but magazines, packages, large parcels, and even (in one example) building materials to a worksite.
The team also found other problems with existing email systems. They tended to support plain text mail only, and rarely supported non-English characters. Support for mobile users was poor, often relying on 3rd party “hacks” that were of dubious reliability. And they were all, without exception, based on a dedicated e-mail server that was typically complex to set up, and often “overkill” for small installations with only a few people in an office.
Finally, none of the existing products could give the user what they really wanted: a single universal mailbox and a single universal address book. In this ‘pre-Internet’ era, savvy users often had mailboxes on their corporate network, online services such as CompuServe or AppleLink, and perhaps a number of Bulletin board systems (BBSs) as well. Each e-mail system used its own standards for collecting and storing information, forcing users to run multiple clients to access the different services. Although a single-mailbox system could be constructed by administrators with the use of e-mail gateways, these tended to be expensive and technically challenging to maintain.
Solutions
AOCE aimed to fix all of these issues at the same time. At “one end” of the system, AOCE focused on the underlying delivery and addressing systems, generalizing the e-mail concept so the system could be used to deliver anything from e-mail to word processor documents to print jobs. Addressing was another issue the market was struggling with, so AOCE would offer a single universal addressing mechanism and address book, one that could support not only people’s e-mail addresses, but the “addresses” of things like printers and fax machines as well. These could be looked up in an interface much easier to use than the existing solution, the Chooser.
AOCE would normally store a user’s e-mail on their computer, as opposed to a server. This not only allowed the user to read their mail offline, but also removed the need for a single machine with huge storage space. Small networks could be set up simply by installing the standard “client” software; the machines would discover each other on AppleTalk and communicate directly. AOCE understood that users were not always connected to the network, so outbound mail was cached on the sender’s machine until both the sender and recipient were online. Even on a LAN this would be valuable, as many people turn off their computers at night and the mail would have to wait until the next morning for delivery.
Since the mail was stored locally, users with laptop computers would be able to read and compose mail while on the road. Everything would automatically update the next time they returned to the office and connected back to the LAN. AppleTalk Remote Access, Apple’s “standard” solution for supporting the AppleTalk protocol over modems, was also supported for those users who wished to sync up remotely.
For security over the potentially “open” phone lines, all communications could be secured using RSA encryption and digital signing, even on the local network. Additionally, Apple provided the Keychain, which stored various login credentials in an encrypted file. This allowed the users to use a different username and password on the various systems they used, placing them in the keychain for secure storage. This way they only had to remember a single password for the keychain; AOCE would retrieve the credentials for a particular service on demand.
Users would be able to send documents directly to other users simply by dropping the address on the document, or vice-versa, bypassing a “message” at all the document would arrive, by itself, in the other user’s mailbox. Delivery of e-mail, or anything else for that matter, was handled entirely by plug-ins, allowing the user to collect mail from all of their sources and collect it into a single inbox.
An optional server could be installed for performance and maintenance needs for those sites that required it. In this case any attempted delivery would be “intercepted” by the server who would accept the message immediately, thereby avoiding delays if the recipient was not online. The server would then deliver the message on behalf of the sender when the recipient “appeared”.
The AOCE project suffered from what is known as second-system effect, where engineers spend considerable time designing a system that does everything[citation needed]. Invariably these projects fail as the demands are not only incredibly difficult to meet, but often fail to meet real user needs. Often the ideas themselves are good, but buried inside unusable implementations.
Release
By early 1993 the “client side” of AOCE was nearing completion, which they now referred to as PowerTalk. Apple started a pre-release marketing campaign, telling their larger customers and even 3rd party e-mail vendors that AOCE would soon arrive and change the market completely. Their claim was that nothing else would be able to compete with its ease-of-use, power, and lack of maintenance overhead all hallmarks of “the Apple way”.
The system was first widely shown at the Macworld Expo in Boston in the summer of 1993. At the show the developers found that their choice of naming was proving unwise, due to confusion between “PowerTalk” and Apple’s new voice recognition system, PlainTalk.
AOCE was publicly released in September 1993, part of the System 7 Pro bundle that also included AppleScript utilities.
In-use
When the product finally shipped after years of hype, users were dismayed to find that to install it required a machine with 2.5MB of RAM minimum, and really needed 4MB to run well. This was the maximum available RAM in many Mac systems of the era. Removing unneeded components did little to address this, and AOCE and the other Apple technology du jour, QuickDraw GX, typically could not be run together because of a lack of memory. While newer machines were able to run AOCE more comfortably, as an e-mail system intended to be run on diverse networks of non-homogeneous machines the requirements greatly impaired market acceptance. Simply downloading and installing separate stand-alone client applications for each mail system the user actually had would use considerably less disk space, and had no constant memory footprint.
While PowerTalk was generally an interesting system, a combination of design features made it frustrating to use[original research?]. For instance, the addressing system was so deeply embedded into the core of the system that simply typing in a new address was an ordeal. First the user had to click on a button, select the address type, type it in, and then finally click OK to have it appear in the message. Disk usage was also a problem; each message was stored as a separate file, requiring 1k or more of space in an era where 40MB and 80MB disks were still common. Thus a few hundred letters would be enough to fill the free space on the drive. Backing up e-mail was likewise almost impossible as a side-effect of the design; the mail was spread out over the network, some of it remote and inaccessible.
Another annoyance was that the system could not know who a user was, because Mac OS did not require users to log in. Thus documents had to be delivered to a user’s machine. This did not work well when the user had two or more machines, making the concept of a universal mailbox difficult to achieve in practice.
Even the remote access functionality was doomed by feature interaction. To ensure that all messages were delivered in a reasonable time on a network where machines might appear and disappear at random (when they are turned on and off), AOCE had a 15-minute timeout in which it repeatedly tried to deliver pending messages. If the user in question was using a dialup connection on a modem, AOCE would keep the line open for a full 15 minutes before giving up on disconnected user, driving up huge long distance bills to deliver a potentially tiny message.
Many of these problems were intended to be solved with the PowerShare server, which acted as an always-on, always responsive “super-peer”. The basic AOCE protocol would notice these machines when attempting delivery, and send to them first, thereby eliminating the delays and centralizing storage and maintenance. Sadly the server was not ready in time for the release, and did not ship for another year. When it did it was likewise slow and resource hungry, largely a side effect of various features of the Mac OS that made it unsuitable for server applications (not that it was designed for this role).
Cancellation
AOCE had one year in the sun at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in 1995 when it was finally selling, but by this point almost everyone realized that the market was moving towards SMTP-based internet mail as an almost universal format. By 1996 Apple had given up on AOCE, and started talking about the CyberDog project based on the OpenDoc platform. AOCE quietly disappeared.[citation needed]
Description
AOCE’s Open Directory and related software introduced the concept of directory entries (such as business cards) as first-class desktop objects. This was used to create a drag-and-drop metaphor for mail, fax, and other directory-based activities. Each endpoint, a mail server for instance, was driven by a plug-in extension that was driven by a common AOCE-supplied queue and queue viewer. PowerTalk provided a set of standard forms for interacting with the items in the queues, and a common interface for mail, and a universal mailbox. Encryption was supported by a single “keychain” that remembered all your passwords and digital signatures, encrypting them together so only a single password needed to be remembered.
The system was designed in an era when there were many e-mail formats and services, including online services such as CompuServe and AppleLink, networking standards like X.400 and SMTP (internet mail) and LAN-based servers such as Microsoft Mail and QuickMail. In order to support this diverse environment, AOCE included a robust layered protocol stack that, in theory, could be used with practically any store-and-forward type of environment. This was used within AOCE not only to service mail, but faxes, printing and even directly sending files from one machine to another without enclosing them in a mail message or needing a file server.
Adoption of AOCE among 3rd party developers was slow due to a ferociously complicated API. The book documenting the system was larger than all of the books describing the rest of the pre-System 7 Macintosh put together. Adding a simple feature like “mail this document” to an application required wading through hundreds of pages of documentation, and writing a core AOCE component was many times more complex.
Several parts of the AOCE engine were useful on their own, notably the Keychain. However in order to get the keychain, you had to install all of AOCE, a cost the users were not willing to pay. Many years later the keychain was finally shipped as a stand-alone component in Mac OS 9. The encryption/signing support is arguably also useful (although not widely used in the “real world”), and it has reappeared in Apple’s bundled Mail application starting with Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar in August 2002.

What Not to Do When Buying Children’s Car Seats
There are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to buying car seats for young children. Some parents think they are unnecessary expenses, especially since there are adult seatbelts anyway. Other parents simply cannot choose, making the entire ordeal of purchasing children’s car seats an unforgettable nightmare.
In reality, buying a car seat for your children doesn’t have to be so painful. It takes a lot of research and time, true, but you don’t have to sweat blood and run out of tears just to make the right choice.
All you have to do is to remember these five things you should NOT do when buying children’s car seats:
- Do not decide based on the price. It is important that you not pick a car seat based on the price alone. Certainly, your budget comes into play when you finally decide on the car seat you want, but this shouldn’t be the sole basis. If you’re picking the cheapest available without taking other factors into consideration, then you’re disregarding features such as safety, comfort and suitability. Likewise, if you’re equating quality with a high tag price, then you’re sorely mistaken. Price should be part of the factors you consider, but it shouldn’t be your focus.
- Do not decide based on aesthetics. Sure, you love pink, and you believe your lovely little princess will look smashing in that frilly car seat, but the design shouldn’t be your primary consideration. These days, you don’t have to sacrifice beauty for function, so why throw everything else out the window and focus only on the aesthetic part? Buying your children’s car seats is primarily spurred by the need to keep them safe and secure while in a moving car. Ignoring that aspect in favour of pretty colours and patterns would take away from the original purpose.
- Do not buy anything you cannot operate on your own. Children’s car seats these days are getting more and more complicated, with some able to convert from a car seat into an actual pram. Take note that you will probably be handling these car seats and travel systems on your own, with a young child or an infant to deal with at the same time. It’s great to be able to buy a useful travel system, but if you can’t handle it while you’re on your own and with a screaming child in toy, don’t bother.
- Do not purchase based on trends. Like other products, some children’s car seats will be promoted and advertised repeatedly. It’s not that these products are outright unnecessary or nothing more than hype. It’s just that you have to focus on what your child needs rather than whatever is trendy at the moment. New special seatbelt feature? Make sure it suits your child’s needs first before you get swayed into a purchase.
- Do not buy on impulse. Although you don’t have to prepare spreadsheets or write a dissertation in preparation for your purchase, do try to make time and do enough research before going into the store. Arm yourself with knowledge, no matter how cliché that sounds, because only then can you make an informed choice.

Customer ATX power supply came in with the complaint of intermittent no power. When testing it with power on, I could see that the fan is not rotating. Not only that, some filter capacitors also became bulge because of the heat accumulated inside the power supply. The failure of the fan would not suck out the heat generated by the components especially the switch mode power transformer.
If you switch off a working power supply and power removed, touch the power transformer, you could feel it is quite warm. Another heat source would be the heat sink where the output diodes attached to it. Diodes run a little bit hotter in filter circuit than diodes in other circuits due to the high current present at the secondary output line.
As for the malfunction fan, you actually could use a Philips oil based contact cleaner to service the fan. The grease inside the fan would run dry after serving for sometimes and eventually stop rotating. Remove the back plastic cap of the fan and spray it with the contact cleaner and you would be surprised the fan could actually regain back its glory. It will actually work just like a new fan. If it still doesn’t rotate, the best choice is to replace with a new fan. If you have the power supply that lying down at your work place then you could salvage the fan and install it.
From the photo at my website you also could see those decayed glue that stick besides the components. Manufacturers purposely used some kind of glue to apply on the components where they think those components will shake or comes out when there is vibration or during shipping. After the equipment work for a long time and the heat generated inside the equipment will turn the glue into conductive and sometimes would even corrode the pins of the components and eventually cause the equipment to stop working.
Scrap it off with your test pen and use Thinner solution to clean the printed circuit board. After replacing the capacitors, removed the decayed glue and service the fan, the Atx power supply again given a new life to faithfully serve the computer.
Some ATX power supply would take you a longer time to troubleshoot because of ‘too many’ components on the board. The most frustrated part is that you could not get the spare parts especially the power ic. Even if you could locate one, the price would be sky high and if this happen, I will usually get the customer to buy a new unit since nowadays the price of a new one are quite cheap.

Laptop Memory Frequency, Capacity and Timings – How To Find The Right Balance
SODIMM Memory Frequency
Regardless of the type of memory, be it SDRAM, DDR, DDR2, DDR3 etc. memory frequency pays a pivotal role in its performance. You see, frequency influences the speed at which bytes can be read and written to and from a SODIMM memory module.
The faster the frequency of a SODIMM memory module, the greater the bandwidth available to your system, thus ultimately the software you run. Some software benefits more than others when more bandwidth is available, nevertheless it’s generally a good idea to have more of it if possible.
Of course depending on your model of laptop, it might not be possible to make use of higher frequency SODIMM memory modules. The underpinning for this is simple, while a laptop supporting for example PC2-4200 DDR2 SODIMM memory that runs at 533MHz effective can have a higher rated SODIMM memory module of the same type but higher grade installed (i.e. PC2-5300 DDR2 running at 667MHz), the net result will still be memory that runs at a maximum of 533MHz. This is true unless of course the memory controller in that laptop supports the frequency of the faster memory. Normally laptop manufacturers already install the fastest grade of memory during production..

Memory frequency is the number one contributor to memory bandwidth therefore by in large performance. Do note how we wrote “all” the installed memory. You see, for your laptop to run at the faster memory frequency, all installed SODIMM memory must meet this specification thus be of the same grade. If your laptop has two SODIMM memory slots (this is the norm) then in practise both SODIMM memory modules must be identical. For example, in a DDR2 memory based laptop this might be PC2-6400, in a DDR laptop PC3200, in a SDRAM laptop PC133 or any other available combination. Simply follow this line of thought and you’ll be okay.
SODIMM Memory Capacity
The amount of memory you have installed in your laptop is what generally speaking ultimately defines how smooth software runs. Consequently, while memory frequency is a key factor to SODIMM memory performance, the capacity of memory installed is fundamental for overall system performance.
How much memory you need is dependant on what software you run. Unfortunately, there’s no golden rule that magically works for each and every application out there. Fortunately however there’s an old principle that lends a helping hand: more memory always helps. Essentially what this translates to in practise is this: install more memory than you need as this way you’re far less likely to run into slowdowns, providing of course the slowdowns are the result of low system memory and not, per se, the processor, graphics card, storage device etc.
Does this sound too good to be true? Regrettably yes, for three reasons. Firstly, buying too much laptop memory will likely aid laptop performance at the cost of upsetting your wallet. Secondly, in an ideal world all laptops, be them new or old, would support the currently maximum capacity of available SODIMM memory modules. Obviously the world isn’t an ideal place and thus you can only upgrade to the maximum capacity supported by your laptop’s memory controller. Thirdly, if you’re running a 32bit Operating System on a laptop supporting 4GB or more of memory then just keep in mind that even though the memory will work, applications will not use the full 4GB. This is a limitation of 32bit addressing, only some of this namespace is available to system memory, the rest must be used for addressing other types of memory within your laptop, for example that of the graphics card. To overcome this on laptops that support it, upgrade to a 64bit Operating System.
Starting to sound slightly complicated? Let’s break this down into simple English. What you should deduct from this is as follows: buy as much memory as your wallet and laptop allows but consider the limitations of 32bit Operating Systems. If you plan to upgrade to 4GB or more of memory and have a newer laptop then upgrade its Operating System to a 64bit version. If your laptop supports 4GB but only 32bit Operating Systems then just keep in mind that the maximum your applications will likely see visible thus use is around 3.25-3.5GB.
SODIMM Memory Timings
Computer memory feature what’s known as timings. These are numerical values which represent delays in how a SODIMM memory module operates. The actual values vary depending on the type of memory (i.e. DDR2) and whether the given SODIMM memory module is mainstream or a performance part. Such delays control all the types of commands that get executed when your computer issues a read, write or copy command. Such timings are stored on each SODIMM memory module in what’s known as a SPD (Serial Presence Detect) chip, located on the same PCB (Printed Circuit Board) as the memory chips.
Because memory timings are ultimately delays then one might think it’s logical to assume that lower timings are better. This can be answered as true but only to an extent. You see, there is only so much that these timings can be lowered, even if a SODIMM memory module has been binned as a performance part. This is due to synchronisation issues. Memory timings control how slow or how fast a given operation is processed by a SODIMM memory module. If it’s set too fast then the outcome may be unstable operation. At the very least this will cause erroneous software behaviour, or if you’re less fortunate a system halt.
Since enhanced memory timings can only contribute so much to real-world system performance (circa 5% real-world performance boost), it’s really a case of deciding whether you believe the added speed boost (i.e. slightly more memory bandwidth, somewhat lower memory access latency) is enough to warrant the price premium. Various tests over the years suggest no, even if you install “performance” SODIMM memory, you’re not likely to feel the difference in any type of software but benchmarks.
Conclusion
There are some important facts to recall from the above. First and foremost memory frequency plays a pivotal role in memory performance, otherwise defined at the speed at which memory read, write and thus copy commands get processed. The higher the memory bandwidth, the more it indirectly influences overall system performance. Secondly, memory capacity is what directly affects the overall speed of your laptop by having a direct influence on computer performance. The more memory you have installed, the far less likely you are to run into slowdowns caused by insufficient memory resources available to the Operating System and other software. Thirdly, memory timings act as an icing on the cake (for a better term) to both memory frequency and capacity.

Why Do Ball Bearings Need Replacing?
Ball bearings are used in a wide variety of appliances and machinery and they will continue to be used for a long time as they are very inexpensive to manufacture. In theory ball bearings should outlive the piece of machinery but as with everything what should happen in theory rarely happens in real life, mainly due to external variables which often cannot be helped. And so it is often found that when a machine or appliance breaks down it can be because the bearing has failed in one way or another, if this is the case the repair can be expensive and time consuming. On analysis of failure of ball bearings it is often found that the bearing is damaged and needs to be replaced, either from extreme heat exposure or repeated movement on the bearing causing the bearing to become disfigured.
Replacing the bearings is a very tricky job that needs to be done exceptionally carefully. Infact 16% of bearing failures is due to the bearing not being fixed properly in the first place, and so it is imperative the bearing is replaced as it is suppose to be in order to avoid further breakdowns and further damages to the bearing.
How to Replace Ball Bearings?
The process of replacing ball bearings really depends on the appliance you are working with. For example if you are replacing the ball bearing on a car wheel you would remove the wheel and then the wheel hub so you can access the bearings. The bearings are pressed into the hub and so take out the bearings that need replacing, sometimes this will entail taking it to a workshop if a machine is required but it can be done with a drift and a hammer. Once the old bearings are out the new ones can be placed in their spot gently taping them into position, make sure they fit perfectly, bearings are a very precise business, they are measured down to a millionth of an inch, and so accuracy is important. Once they are in place the wheel and wheel hub can be fixed back into position.
Changing the bearings on your skateboard is a little different. Having removed the old bearings take the new bearings and set them into the wheel. Some skateboard bearings have one side coloured, this is the protective side and should go facing outwards to stop dirty and grime from getting into the bearing. Press gently and evenly on the outer rim until it fits flush into the wheel. Attach all bearings in the same way, once they are all in place you can then attach the wheels back on.
Every machine, whether it’s electrical or a vehicle, has a different method of replacing their bearings and so it is best to refer to the user manual before you begin for if this is done incorrectly it can result in failure of the machine and it can be become dangerous.

How To Cut Out Image Using Adobe Photoshop Software Selection Tools – How To Create A Frame for a Photo
This is actually a fairly simple task — although many of the Photoshop authors make it seem more difficult than it really is. Using logic, the portion of the image to be popped out of the frame must be separated from the original image and raised to a higher level, in front of the frame, while leaving the original photo in tact. This technique works in any image software which has layers.
1. Cut out the image: Using any of the software’s selection tools you wish, make an accurate selection of the portion of the image you wish to pop.
In this example we used a combination of the Lasso and Magnetic Lasso to carve out the front of the car. Tip: to save time, cut only the part that will pop out.
Lift the image: Once your selection is accurate, and ready to go, duplicate it onto its own layer by using the “float” command (Cmd/J or Ctrl/J)
You can see the nose of the Jaguar is now on its own layer. (#1 in the layers palette) Note that it’s just the nose — no use to select more than you have to. It will match perfectly with the original image on the background layer and provide a seamless pop-out.
2. Create the Frame: Now, in a new layer, you can create the frame for the photo. Here we simply used a white background with the frame cut out. Layer #2 in the diagram.
At this point you can decorate or modify the frame any way you wish — textures, borders, etc.
Key Concept: Layer Sequencing. Always remember that the stacking order of your layers affects the final product. As you look at the file, you’ll understand that the layers were generated in that specific stack order to achieve the effect — even though they may not have been created in that order.
Also note that we did all the selection work on a COPY of the background, just in case we flubbed something up, or needed to go back and get more of the image. The “work” layer can be deleted, and the whole image flattened when complete.

As I was driving around town yesterday, I noticed this annoying, squeaking sound coming from the insides of the car. I don’t have the slightest idea what or where it was so I figured I needed to go to a shop so they can take a look at the problem. The first thing that worried me was: “Oh no, my beautiful seats will be ruined.”. You see, I recently bought a new set of car seat covers that had pretty little prints in them. If the mechanics weren’t careful enough, their tools might create several tears and scratches or worst, they could spill stuff in it! That would be the end of my pretty little seat covers. And I couldn’t afford that.
I stormed through a car shop, armed with loads of questions on how they can make sure that my seat covers won’t be affected in any way, and was ready to bombard the mechanic with them. But this red thing that resembled a garment bag caught my attention and was only able to mutter “What’s this?” to the mechanic instead. It turned out to be the new Recyclable seat protectors. The item had my full attention and I became more interested as I learned more about the product. The recyclable seat protector is a car seat cover made of non-woven polypropylene, a material that’s better in handling chemicals, stains, greases and oils. They use these reusable seat covers to make sure that the interiors are kept as good as they were when they came in. They even had gear covers and fender covers for maximum protection. It was amazing.
The worries that consumed me were like ice, melting slowly and ended up as a big puddle of water. I was relieved. I was happy. My pretty seat covers were safe and my car will be fixed. I couldn’t have asked for more.

Lapdesk Cooling Pad – Laptop Overheating Causes
Operating a laptop at very high temperatures leads to failed hardware components such as video cards, motherboards, memory modules, hard drives and more. The heat decreases the lifespan of your computer and can also be a fire hazard in extreme cases.
Hopefully you have read my article regarding laptop overheating symptoms and have gained a basic understanding of what to look out for if you suspect that your computer is running to hot. Just to make sure here is a short list of signs to look out for that will help you determine the difference between an overheating laptop and one that’s just a little hot.
- Internal cooling fan is constantly running.
- Computer struggling to perform basic tasks like opening a new browser window.
- Mysterious error messages popping up in random programs.
- Lines on your laptop screen, which is a sign your video card is overheating.
- System freezing or the dreaded Blue Screen of Death.
- The laptop abruptly shuts down on its own.
Now we are going to look at some of the possible causes of overheating to help you recognize a potential problem before it occurs.
Causes of Laptop Overheating
1. Use a Lapdesk Cooling Pad To Prevent Clogged Air Vents:
The most common cause of overheating is blocked air vents. These are the small grill areas usually found on the underside and at the sides of your laptop. When dust blocks the fans and air vents designed to cool your laptop, overheating results.
In a way, part of a computer works like vacuum cleaner; sucking air form one side and blowing it out from the other. Unfortunately they don’t come with filter bags to catch all the dust and debris. After just a few months of use the fans and heatsinks will eventually become coated with dust. If not cleaned, their effectiveness quickly drops and so overheating occurs.
On a standard home PC the CPU heatsink and fan are quite bigger and more powerful than on a laptop. There are also fans on the power supply, on the video card and other areas that can total up to six fans to make sure your PC stays cool. However laptops usually have just one or two smaller fans that have to do it all.
These one or two fans have a tough job ahead of them. Laptops tend to accumulate fine layers of dirt and dust around their air vents after months of use. A laptop needs a steady flow of fresh air in order to cool its internal components that produce a high amount of heat. These components include the processor, hard disk and random access memory (RAM). Clogged air vents prevent the cooling of these components.
2. Use a Lapdesk Cooling Pad To Prevent Malfunctioning Internal Fans:
A laptop uses at least one internal fan to cool its processor and other critical internal components. Most laptops use fans that work according to the workload of the processor. So, if the processor finds itself having to work harder, the fans will work faster to try to keep up with clearing the heat away. You will be able to hear the buzz made by a fan that suddenly changes pitch to match the processor’s heavy workload.
Therefore, a malfunctioning fan that is unable to respond to changes in processor workload will cause the processor and other components to overheat quickly. It also can degrade the performance of the operating system severely.
3. Improper Placement:
The placement of your laptop plays a significant role in determining whether or not it overheats. We buy laptops because they are portable giving us the freedom to use them wherever we want. We can work off our laps, on the floor, on the couch, in bed, outside, etc. The problem with this is there is a higher chance of blocking the air vents. Unlike above where the vents were blocked with dust here they may be blocked by the surface area you work from. Here is a definite area where a lapdesk cooling pad will come in handy.
If you use your laptop like a personal computer by accessing it from a fixed position, it should be in a place where it has a good supply of fresh air. Also, its air vents should not be blocked, and it should not be near other electronic components that also generate heat.
4. Software Problems:
Some laptops overheat because the software designed to protect the laptop, specifically by controlling the operation of cooling fans, does not work properly. In other cases, this is due to problems in the computer’s BIOS, and can be cured by upgrading to the most recent BIOS.
For example, you may have upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 only to find the system software designed to operate the fans no longer works properly.
Software programs also exist to help avoid laptop overheating. They work by checking the computer to locate any unnecessary applications that may be running which are adding a heavier load on the processor. Once located, in order to avoid the conditions that lead to heat build-up the software will automatically shut down or lower the power usage of these applications. They can be a useful tool to restoring your laptop to healthy functioning if a program is available for your laptop.
5. Use a Lapdesk Cooling Pad To Help With Poor Design:
Some laptop overheating is a result of poor design by the computer manufacturers. The CPUs and all other components are crammed into a tight little laptop space leaving very little room for air to circulate. Others simply have failed to provide ventilation and cooling systems appropriate for today’s CPU and video chips, which hold many more transistors than in the past and so generate more heat. Once again, this is a prime example of where a lapdesk cooling pad should be used.
6. Use a Lapdesk Cooling Pad To Work In A High Room Temperature:
This may be obvious but you would be surprised as to how much the temperature can rise in a laptop if it is used in a hot environment. Using a laptop inside a hot room or outside in the sun will cause it to overheat quickly. So, choose your work enviornment wisely.

Rockstar: Red Dead Redemption on PC isn’t happening, not ‘viable’ (feeds.joystiq)

has confirmed that _Red Dead Redemption_ is not coming to the PC. In a Q&A on
the company’s blog, Rockstar explains, “All we can say is that whenever it is
viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a
game for PC (or any other particular platform) – we will and we usually do;
unfortunately, that is just not the case 100% of the time for all platforms.”
The post adds, “To PC gamers, we hope that between the _Grand Theft Auto_
titles, and the forthcoming _L.A. Noire_ and _Max Payne 3_, you’ll have plenty
