If the display on the Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop is broken or blown, you can perform a fairly easy procedure to replace it. Depending on which part of the display has failed, the degree of simplicity varie a little. If the outside of the display has been destroyed, you’ll just replace the entire assembly, which takes about 30 minutes; however, if it’s only the screen, you’ll have to remove it from the assembly, which adds 10 or 15 minutes of turning screws and pulling at cables. Shut down the system and disconnect the power cord.
Strip the computer of all the peripheral components that are connected to it, including cables and removable media devices.
Remove the battery from the base of the computer.
Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the indentation at the far-right end of the hinge cover. Pry the hinge cover up and take it off the computer by lifting it from right to left.Extract the two screws at the top of the keyboard.FM Transmitter(iPhone FM Transmitters )
Lift the keyboard so you can access the flat cable that runs into the motherboard. Disconnect the cable and take the keyboard off the computer.Locate the Mini PCI card compartment at the top-right corner of the keyboard area. Laptops tend to lose their charm quickly when you are constantly looking for the nearest exit power to reload. How do you keep your Dell Inspiron 1545 Battery to go as long as possible? Here are 15 easy ways to do so.
1. Defrag regularly – The faster your hard drive does its work – less demand you are going to the hard drive and battery. Make your hard drive as efficient as possible to defragment regularly. (But not while on battery of course!) Mac OSX is better built to handle fragmentation so it may not be very applicable for Apple systems.
2. Sun screen – Most laptops come with the ability to Sun screen of your laptop. Some even come with ways to modify CPU and cooling performance. Cut to the lowest level you can tolerate to get some extra battery juice.
3. Reduce the programs running in the background. Itunes, Desktop Search, etc. All these add to the CPU load and reduce battery life. Stop all that is not crucial when you are on the Dell 1545 battery.
4. Cut external devices – USB devices (Including your mouse) & WiFi drain down your laptop battery. Remove or shut them down when not in use. Would thia Ram memory work with dell inspiron 15, not the 1520,1515,1510 or 1505, just the plain Inspiron 15.
The type of Ram is: Corsair 2Gb SODIMM 667Mhz (It just says 667 but it must be Mhz). If this Ram doesnt work can you recommend another cheap Value RAM type please?

Why LED Backlight Screens Are Better than Traditional Ones
It is easy to take the quality of LCD screen for granted. But when you consider that you probably spend more time using your LCD monitor than any other component of your PC, you realize that the screen you stare at every day is a vital part of your computer system. What differentiates one LCD from another is image quality. Such parameters as, text readability, sharpness, grayscale range, color quality, or image uniformity are important.
However, the most important tool (diagnostic equipment) to evaluate the quality of LCD screen is the human eye. You may have noticed that now more and more laptops and desktop monitors sell with newly developed LED-backlight LCD screens. They are brighter, thinner, less power-consuming, and more reliable than the screens built with fluorescent lamp. But they are more expensive too. Is it worth today to buy a laptop or monitor with LED-backlight LCD screen instead of traditional one?
A backlight (or backlit) is a form of illumination that used in LCD (liquid crystal display) screens. In other words, backlight is an internal source of white light that illuminates the LCD from the back of the display panel. This is how most modern laptop screens and desktop monitors are built. Note, LED-backlight LCD (or TFT) screen is not the same as an OLED (Organic LED) active screen which does not require a backlight to function.
Only a few years ago, display technology started incorporating LED (light emitting diode) backlights. Today LCD screens with LED backlight are still more expensive than traditional screens. Are they really better than old ones? Most computer experts would tell you that these new types of screens are brighter, thinner, less power-consuming (and less heat), and more reliable. They may forget to mention that these screens with LED backlight have longer life (old technology monitors starts dim after several years usage and loses brightness).
Also it is important that backlight-LED type of LCD screen is “greener” than a regular screen because it is mercury-free, less power-consuming, and able to prolong battery life in laptops (therefore, decrease its disposal problem). According to Dell’s internal research, switching all of its laptops to LED, which use 43% less power than fluorescent lamp will save consumers $20 million dollars in energy costs and 220 million kilowatt-hours over 2010 and 2011.
There is one more reason to switch to LED backlight. Regular screens use CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) backlighting that produces inaccurate color. CCFL emits white light that has non-uniform (stripped) spectrum. Actual white light (sunlight or daylight) has a continuous spectrum. And LED is able to produce such full spectrum white light. That is why LED-backlight screens are able to reproduce more natural and richer colors. The first users who gratefully noticed this were photographers, designers, and graphics professionals.
Important to note, now we see only the first generation of LED backlight monitors. They are not developed and worked out properly yet. In principle, manufacturing LED is cheaper than CCFL and, eventually, the monitors with LED backlight will be cheaper. Evidently, LED-backlight screen will replace soon older CCFL type as LCD replaced CRT in the past. However, it seems, the true revolution will come with OLEDs.

How To Repair Compaq 17″ LCD Monitor
The complaint of this 17″ Compaq LCD Monitor was shutdown after few seconds to few minutes. That means the display sometime will shutdown in few seconds while sometime it will shutdown in couple of minutes. When there is a display the picture worked perfectly good until it shutdown. The first thing one would normally suspect is the defective backlight. For your information, a bad or a weak backlight can cause such problem and dry joints may also contribute to the cause of the fault.
Since I have a spare backlight, I swapped the LCD backlight with the working one. It is easy to do it, just remove the existing backlight connector and connect the good backlight connector to it. I have tested one by one the backlight and the result was the LCD Monitor still shutdown intermittently. This has proved both of the LCD Monitor backlights are okay! So now my concentration is looking for any dry joints in the LCD Monitor.
I put back all the internal metal casing like original except the main cover and switch “ON” the LCD Monitor. While at my left hand holding the LCD Monitor, my right hand holding the shaft of the screw driver, I began to gently knock on the LCD Monitor internal metal casing with the handle of the screw driver. The moment I ‘hit’ it, the LCD Monitor went straight into shutdown. Wow! From the test I believe you would have known what is the cause of the LCD shutdown-it was dry joint.
Opening up the casing again, you can clearly see three boards i.e. the power/inverter board, audio board and the Main board. I only suspect the power/inverter board because this is the board that controls the backlights. What I did was resoldered all the components in the inverter area except the SMD components because SMD components rarely have dry joints.
When I power “On” the LCD Monitor and hit it with the handle of the screw driver, the Monitor again went into shutdown. I told myself “it can’t be” but anyway I have a very high confident that the fault must be in the inverter area and not in Main board or power board. Next, I carefully hold the LCD panel and use a test pen to lift up the corner of the inverter board and power “On” the Monitor. Guess what happen? The Monitor did not shut down even though I ‘hit’ a little bit hard on the metal casing. This again proved that the problem is somewhere in the inverter area.
I opened up again the metal casing and carefully scanned through all of the components in the inverter area-it look like I have already applied fresh solder to it. It was only the feedback circuit that have SMD components that I haven’t solder. I used a magnifier glass to check if there are any dry joints in all of the feedback components but I don’t see any. I went ahead to resolder all of the SMD components in the feedback circuit and power “On” the Monitor. To my surprised, the LCD Monitor no more shutting down no matter which way or how I tapped the LCD Monitor with the handle of the screwdriver. I put the LCD Monitor for many hours of burn in test and it just worked great. I have sent back the LCD Monitor to my customer and till now after couples of days there is no call from my customer.
Conclusion – Do not overlooks the dry joints in SMD components. Every part in the electronic board can be a suspect. Hope from this article you can get some ideas about solving intermittent problem in LCD Monitor.

which of these two laptops should i choose? they are hp and compaq?
im looking at getting either an HP Pavilion dv6802AX or a Compaq Presario C776TU Notebook and i need to know how they stack up against each other? i have an acer aspire 3000 and seriously i dont want to make a mistake like that again, so im not even considering acer. i need to be able to play games well on the one i choose. does anyone else have one of these and would recommend?
