The downside is that they are nowhere near as long lasting as metal straps and they can get stained fairly easily. Leather straps have the advantage of being made from a soft natural fabric, so most people find that they are comfortable to wear. Imitation leather is also available, these straps tend to be cheaper and less durable. Some people may find that they are allergic to them.
Webbing Strap Watches
Webbing straps are generally the cheapest of the straps on the market. They are commonly made from nylon. They are fairly durable and normally water resistant. They are often used for watches that are designed specifically for outdoor pursuits or for childrens watches.

Why Tiger Woods has a Perfect Golf Swing
This last weekend, we once again had the pleasure of watching Tiger Woods playing in a Major Golf Tournament, the 2009 Masters. He injured his knee prior to the 2008 US Open, and the last we saw of him was winning that tournament in a lot of pain.
He may not have won this years Masters tournament but his swing truly is exceptional and it is alwyas worth taking a look at some video and snapshots of his swing to do some video analysis. So why does Tiger Woods have a perfect golf swing? The answer is TIMING.
Tiger shows an almost perfect example of a concept we discussed in our last post with Andy Murray’s serve. Tiger creates club head speed by perfectly sequencing and timing the movement of his knees, hips, shoulders, wrists and club. In golf this is known as the kinematic sequence. The kinematic sequence in a golf swing is a little different to that of a Tennis serve, but in the end the idea for both is to create club head speed or racquet head speed by storing and then transferring energy from hips to shoulders to club or racquet, with perfect timing.
Lets have a look at Tiger Woods’ swing in slow motion from some YouTube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHcP6X7dEUo . We have seen this video before, but it is a really good one. In this video we have a side on view of Tiger’s swing (side on to the direction he will hit) and we can see the club throughout the swing. This makes it a great video to analyze. The video was also filmed with a high speed camera with a high shutter speed, which is why we can see the club so clearly in each frame even through ball impact.
OK lets analyse this swing by looking at the way Tiger stores and transfers energy to the ball through the golf club. If you stop the video at 0:33 seconds, you will see that Tiger is now at the top of his back swing. During his back swing he turned his hips and his shoulders away from the direction in which he will be hitting in order to store up energy for his swing.
Play the video from here and we will see how his hips start to move earlier and quicker than his upper body and that his shoulders are left behind. Tiger is starting his kinematic sequence by unwinding his back swing. The timing is important and he leads with his hips in order to create more separation between his hips and shoulders and therefore create more energy to be transferred.
His shoulders then follow and at ball strike we see that Tiger’s hips are now facing the target while his shoulders are almost facing directly at the camera. This perfect timing has allowed him to transfer all the energy from his back swing, first to his hips and then from his hips to his shoulders.
Here are two images of Tiger at the top of his back swing and at ball strike, created with some free video analysis software and images of Tiger’s swing.
Although these are 2 different swings, we can see how Tiger creates separation between his hips and shoulders in the image on the left and how his hips are turned toward the target at ball strike in the image on the right. The shoulders have rotated quickly as they follow in sequence from the hips, in fact they have caught up with the hips as energy was transferred from hips to shoulders and the hip rotation has slowed while the shoulder rotation has sped up. The angle between the hips and shoulders at ball strike is now much less than at the start of the down swing and we can see this in the images above.
Of course the golf swing does not end with the shoulders and there are still numerous places where the timing can be off and the golfer can lose club head speed. In the video above we can look at time 00:41 seconds and we can see that Tiger’s wrists are still cocked. As we play forward from this point we will see the wrists release, transferring the energy from the shoulders and arms to the wrists and on to the club and club head at ball strike.
This last sequence happens very quickly and the golfers timing has to be perfect. Previewing Wine Before Serving…Watch For Cork Taint
I went on a date at a pricey Palm Beach restaurant a while back. Being the gentlemen I am and, of course, the 22 year old self involved show-off I was, I ordered a high-end bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from the state of Washington. A few minutes later, the waiter returned to the table and asked if I would like to sample the wine prior to service. He also showed me the cork. Thinking it was very panache; I looked at the cork and tasted the wine. I then thought to myself, why would he offer me the cork and a sip prior to serving my date? I’m sure the same question has crossed your mind.
It boils down to the humidity and temperature of the wine. There are two general facts about wine and humidity to consider. First, in a high humidity environment a wine bottle will start to form mold. The mold tends to grab a hold of the cork. This is one of the reasons the waiter offered the cork to me – to inspect it before serving the glass of wine. Mold, a bacterium, will start to change the chemical composition of wine. Some mold is not a problem, but too much will completely alter the flavor of wine. The second fact is that low humidity can cause the cork to crack. A slight crack in the cork will expose the bottle to air prematurely and increase the chance of finding tiny cork particles in your expensive bottle of wine! Aeration of a red wine will cause it to become sour. Increased sourness of a wine can make your taste buds go numb. When your taste buds go numb, you can’t enjoy the full experience of your food. Not only has the aerification ruined your wine its ruining your food experience as well!
Another reason a waiter offers a preview of the wine is to make sure there isn’t cork taint. Cork taint has many of the same effects as airation. It occurs when the cork has been exposed to poor surroundings prior to bottling, either from the forest conditions, storage, or during the processing period. Tainting occurs when the cork absorbs a compound called trichloroanisold or TCA. TCA causes a strong musty smell, and mostly occurs in natural corks.
Further, you are offered to taste the wine to determine if the wine is to your liking. There are many guidelines regarding the temperature of wine. However, the key barometer is how it tastes to YOU. Decide if the temperature is to your liking. Is it too hot or too cold? If the wine is not at a temperature you prefer, it may taste sour or present an unpleasant after taste.
So, when the waiter offers you a sample of the wine before service to others or offers you the cork for inspection, seize the opportunity! Look for cracks in the cork or mold. Smell the wine. Do you notice a musty aroma, like a damp basement or clothes that have sat in the washing machine for too long? Taste the wine. Is it too hot or too cold? Does it taste sour? Does it taste good? If any of these concerns arise, don’t be embarrassed… SEND IT BACK!

It really depends on the wine… I’ve had wines that oxidize after a day and others that hold up well for 4 days or so. Some wines have more resistance to oxidation than others… due to phenolic and anthocyan concentration, level of free SO2 and the age of the wine. As wine interacts with oxygen, the alcohol oxidizes and forms by-products such as acetaldehyde which cause the wine to smell and taste flat and dull. Given enough time, acetobacter will cause the alcohol to convert to acetic acid, ie. the wine turns to vinegar.

DATELINE: HANOVER, MA…Bag upon bag of donated clothing has been collected and counted and now it’s official… Lapels Dry Cleaning Dry Cleaning stores collected over TWO TONS of clothing during the annual Lapels Clothing Drive to benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation and Big Sisters of Rhode Island.
For two weeks in May, patrons of all of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Lapels Dry Cleaning stores heeded the effort to clean out their closets, including the Lapels Dry Cleaning stores in: Abington, Bedford, Beverly, Boston-Charles River Park, Brighton, Concord, Dedham, Easton, Framingham, Halifax, Hanover, Marshfield, Newtonville, Norton, Randolph, Salem, Sudbury, Walpole, Westford, and Westwood, and Lincoln, RI. Is there a car seat for children that will fit with a belt strap ages 4-6 that has shoulder strap built in?
I bought a 1969 Chevelle and it has only a lap belt buckle in the back which won’t work with my car seats. I need a car seat that will give my chidren safety of a shoulder strap or 5-pt system to be able to transport them in it. Basically what I needis a built in shoulder strap so I can bring the kids with.
no, at that age, you are using a booster seat which uses the car’s seat belts.
You can, however, purchase retrofit seat belt systems that include shoulder belts for older cars.

You may have to make some modifications to make it work in the back seat (I.E, body shop visit)
by the way, even if you did find a seat with built in belts it would be unsafe at that age/weight. The kid needs to be restrained to the car, not to a piece of plastic. In a collision, the seat would snap in two if the belt was only attached to the seat.

I am an amateur photographer who is just starting out in the “business” of photography. I am currently using the low end DSLR Canon 450D -A.K.A. Rebel xsi. Recently Microsoft had to bend to this new environment, and also started giving this model its Office suite, its main source of revenue, which generated revenue in billion dollars in 2009.
The strategies adopted vary according to size and maturity of the IT areas of business. Large corporations are taking their first steps toward adopting Cloud Computing private clouds, while small firms choose public clouds. However, providers of public clouds created proprietary platforms for developing cloud applications, trying to win the hearts and minds of developers. Moreover, we are beginning to revive another war for space (remember the endless debate between. Net and Java?), But now with Amazon, Google, Salesforce and Microsoft (Azure) trying to conquer this market. Yes, it is an important target, because the developers is that in practice, are responsible for connecting organizations with their clouds. IBM, in turn, has a different approach, which leaves out of this fight by tools for public clouds. Bet that, at least initially, but developers can use the cloud model, but to create applications that will run in the traditional setting or in private clouds. Does not focus on developing applications to run on public clouds. Personally, I believe that this option is very interesting for medium to large businesses, which tend to keep their data centers internally, using them in private clouds.

The risk of lock-in is still present. These challenges are barriers that end up preventing a greater and more rapid spread of the cloud.
And what developers need and demand for that scenario to unleash Cloud Computing? I made no exhaustive research, but talking here and there with friends who make their living developing systems, collected some insights. First of all they want easy to use tools to develop your applications to run on clouds, that these tools arjoine also available on this model, ie, “pay for use”. Moreover, in general developers working in small enterprises and ISVs do not have much budget at its disposal and how often faced with lack of support in their own data centers want self-service solutions. Also there should be a universal, open API, enabling them to write an application that runs on any cloud. Do not want to be subject to lock-ins. They also need tools that exist to integrate easily, applications that run on a cloud systems that are running in other clouds, be they public or private. And the systems that are already running on on-premise environment. And what they are today? If they adopt IDEs (Integrated Development Environment) coupled to a specific platform such as GAME (Google Application Engine) or force . com discover that these tools are only good for developing specific applications for these clouds and proprietary. Microsoft enlists developers for clouds within their community of developers who know. Net and want (or are forced) to continue with this technology. Anyway, they all seek to create and expand the lock-ins for its clouds.
So what the developers want are dreams of a summer night? Expect the industry to create solutions that allow them to develop applications to run in the clouds, keeping the highest possible degree of similarity with existing tools. Of course, at least initially, want to create applications for the clouds without changing the way applications are today, but over time will require new tools, more developmentally appropriate for the cloud. Actually a lot is already being done. For example, in integrating the recent acquisition of Cast Iron by IBM is a step toward spreading the Integration-as-Service offered by Cast Iron as a fundamental part of the process of integrating applications into the clouds. This integration is necessary both to applications that are other clouds or those that are running on-premise servers located in data centers of companies themselves.
In general actions that can suggest to my friends developers? Well, first of all would be good for them to understand more deeply what is Cloud Computing, its restrictions (lock-ins with care and safety issues in public clouds) and benefits. Should be kept well informed about the rapid evolution of the concept and its technologies and offerings. Also suggest that you begin to develop small applications in the cloud, testing and validating your assumptions. Use a cloud to develop an application is a good way to understand the concept of Cloud Computing and master it.
And since we are talking about developers, technology developers to clouds is to learn to use the Hadoop – an open source Java framework, a top level apache project. As the cloud spread, understand and master this technology will become more and more important.

Where do clouds go at night ?
At night clouds seem to disapear, what happens to them and why?
Clouds don’t disappear at night. The sky is just dark so it’s harder to see them. If you look up and see just lots of stars then there are no clouds (same as looking at a clear blue sky during the day). If you see no stars at all – clouds are up there covering them up.
If there’s a thunderstorm at night, the lightening will light up the clouds.
